For the last couple of weeks, we've been "down south". What I've missed most since arriving in Minnesota is the exhaustive fellowship. And I can tell you, it is exhaustive, but in a very good way.
We made a stop at the Noble's house on the way down and stayed for a few days. As usual, we made plenty of memories, the most unforgettable being the disappearance of our dog, Teddy. He was gone for eight or so hours and caused some major stress. When he finally showed up (wagging his tail nonetheless!) he was covered, COVERED with ticks - hundreds of them! Elijah and I picked all of the larger ones off and then Papa made a trip to the store to get some "tick shampoo". It didn't work. Consequently, a few people had to stay up late into the night, removing ticks and reaping the "benefits" of Teddy's little "escapade". While there we also killed a snake (we're still not sure of the type), played capture the flag (a traditional game with us), and had some WONDERFUL food. Finally, we said goodbye and proceeded on our journey.
The Hernandez children had made some "WELCOME HOME" signs and had hung them on the gate. It was so neat to pull up into their driveway after a long road trip and to be so warmly greeted. We had dinner with them that night and some much appreciated fellowship.
During the following week we were there we had a meal with friends nearly every day. Brunch, dinner, etc. It was so good to see friends again!
We left the Hernandez' at 5:00 a.m. on our northward journey. The Hernandez family were up to say goodbye at that early hour. It really meant a lot to us to have friends who were willing to sacrifice their own comfort to be a blessing to us.
We again stopped at the Noble's home, but just overnight. Their place is about half way between Minnesota and Texas so it provides the perfect "rest stop" and the best "bed and breakfast" ever. We are indeed blessed to have such friends!
We are now safely back in Minnesota and I am immensely enjoying the flower garden! (Innumerable photo opportunities!)
Due to some technical difficulty, I am unable to upload any of the pictures that I had taken during the trip. I am hoping that I can soon discover the cause of the problem and be "up and running" again.
