Butchering Deer

On Saturday we went out to Mr. David Richter's to butcher the deer shot during gun season.  It was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed my time.  Christian and Jonathan were my little "photo journalists" for the day and we traded the camera back and forth.  Together, we got 700 photos!  It was certainly a well-documented event!

Here's the best part!  :)
Christian and Jonnie were really helpful with making deerburger.
Packaging the deerburger
Notice Amanda between the little guys.
Jonah amidst all of the chaos.  Poor guy! :)  He went around pointing at the deer and saying "Buck. Buck." It was really cute!
Halli, peeling carrots for the soup.
Scrubbing the floor.
One member of the cleaning crew.  :)
Just a goofy picture. :)

And then it snowed that night...and it was windy too.  Brrrr...!
The boys went out on the way home...they were REALLY tired!

Thanksgiving

We're now back from Iowa where we spent our Thanksgiving.  It was nice to see family again and the boys especially enjoyed shooting clay pigeons with the other men.

I took a lot of pictures, but I'll try to spare you from seeing more than is needed for a brief overview, though I am afraid that I may not succeed! :)

The snack table.
Grandma's Apple Pie
Uncle Spencer's black lab, Chance.

Best buddies
Grandma and Grandpa
Samuel (also known as "Samo") "driving" the tractor.  He was quite amazed at how fast it could go! (No, I actually messed around with it on Photoshop - sorry it's kind of choppy. :)
Mealtime!
Cousins River and Paige
4 of the best brothers in the whole wide world.
Grandpa dares anyone to take our guns!
River, wearing the all-important ear protection.
The Armour men

Jeremiah shooting and Elijah pulling while Grandpa looks on.
Even Mama got a chance to shoot.  As for me, I had been shooting my Canon all day, so felt no desire to shoot an inferior piece of artillery. :) (No offence to any of you who are crazy about guns!)
Jeremiah found this broken clay pigeon in the box.
If you look in the top left corner of this photo, you can see the clay pigeon that Elijah just shot to pieces in mid air.
The sunset over the hill...
...and the sunset over the pond a little bit later.
Uncle Spencer also built a huge bonfire.  It looks small in the photo, but it was gigantic!
The dogs, packed and ready to head home.
And finally, just for laughs, a photo of "Mr. Hot Shot".  He keeps us laughing!
